Guide for SMAP Concert Beginners

  • Generally, the official fan club members are given priority on ticket sales of coming concert tour of SMAP. Almost all the tickets are sold out in the official fan club, and small amounts of tickets will be sold at some local ticket agencies. You can get a ticket at such a ticket agency if you live in Japan, but it can't be helped if you are not.
  • You have to live in Japan in order to join the SMAP official fan club. You can join the SMAP official fan club by paying membership fees with the prescribed form if you have a fixed address in Japan. See FAQ at Johnny's net for details.
Please do googling to get the URL because Johnny's net prohibits fan-sites from direct linking.
  • In Japan, the resale of tickets is illegal under Anti-Nuisance Ordinance unless the resale is authorized by the organiser. The concert office of Johnny & Associates prohibits resale of tickets. If you get a ticket via an online auction or a ticket scalper, there is the risk that the concert office refuses admission of you and you will not be permitted to attend the concert.
  • Do not buy a ticket selling by the scalper on the street around the stadium on the concert day. These professional ticket scalpers have connection to crime syndicate behind them. On the other hand, there is the risk that it's a counterfeit ticket or fraud when you buy it from the person whom you don't know well via an online auction or SNS (Twitter etc).
  • If you get a concert ticket of SMAP luckily, please read below before that day of concert to prevent a failure by cultural differences.

Long show
The concert of SMAP runs over three hours and a half in most cases, or sometimes over four hours.
The concert of Mr.S Tour runs over three hours and a half, and the exit regulation requires more hours.
See below to understand the exit regulation.
Exit regulation
The concert of SMAP held at a big dome gathers audiences about over 40,000 to 55,000 people at a time. To keep the safety, the organiser will control leaving of the audiences at exit time. You have to wait your turn sitting on your seat to walk out after the concert.
Calling will be done to the seat blocks each, like "Arena XX's turn" or "from YY to ZZ rows of the second level stand". Please note the exit turn guidance will be announced in Japanese, not in English. If you cannot understand Japanese language, you should watch the action of people around you to let yourself know when your turn come.
Custom of the Johnny's artiste concert
There are unique custom of the concert of Johnny's artiste not to be seen at other J-POP concerts. During concert most audiences shake props like below to cheer their love on.
  • Uchiwa (Jumbo fan): One of official goods, the big paper fan that printed face of a member of the artiste.
  • Penlight (Glow stick): One of official goods, high-functioning penlight designed for each tour specially.
The official goods are sold on the day at booths placed on the premises and/or the site of a stadium. Be careful that a stall at street outside of the site of a stadium is unofficial and is selling illegal goods. Don't buy them.

Please note there is the rule to shake these props - you must keep your Uchiwa in front of your chest. If you shake it above your shoulders, you will obstruct the view of people who stand behind you, it's an activity that becomes an annoyance to others. See Uchiwa manner.

Can I take a fan-shot?
Fan-shot is prohibited. In Japan, nobody of audience is permitted to take a video/photo/audio-recording at a concert basically. You are required to leave your camera/recorder at the reception desk before entering the hall. Of course you also must not take a shot with your smartphone.
If you take a video/photo/audio-recording in a stealthy manner and caught red-handed, you will be kicked out the concert.
Can I use mobile phone at my seat during the concert?
You should turn off the mobile phone before the concert begins. During the concert please put up with talking by telephone, reading/writing a mail or posting a tweet at your seat.
Can I temporarily leave the hall and reenter?
You cannot reenter the hall.
I'd like to go near SMAP from my seat
Moshing and crowd surfing are prohibited at SMAP concert. Your area is around your seat only. Don't go to a place other than your seat as you please. It's prohibited because it's an activity that becomes an annoyance to other people, and there is a risk of causing a serious accident.
For your information, SMAP members grasp the situation at once, and will ignore such uncourteous approaching person. Keep your pride even if surrounding people lose control of themselves.
I'd like to climb up my seat because the visibility is not good
Don't climb up your seat. It's prohibited because it's an activity that becomes an annoyance to other people, and there is a risk of causing a serious accident. The folding chair of Arena seat is vulnerable, and the plastic chair of Stand seat is narrow and slippery.
I'd like to ride my little child on my shoulders
Imagine your height plus your child's sitting height. It's an activity that becomes an annoyance to surrounding people, and your shaking shoulders put your child at risk causing a serious accident. You have duty to protect your child.
Uchiwa manner
Please note there is the rule to shake cheering props - you must keep your Uchiwa in front of your chest. If you shake it above your shoulders, you will obstruct the view of people who stand behind you, it's an activity that becomes an annoyance to others.
Excessive decoration of Uchiwa is prohibited because decorated Uchiwa bigger than the official Uchiwa will obstruct the view of people who stand behind you.
Decoration manner
Not only excessive decoration of Uchiwa, but also do not do excessive decoration of yourself.
Excessive decoration of yourself: big hairstyle, Mickey ear, bunny ear, coronal, stuffed animal suit and headgear, and so on.
Follow the exit regulation
The concert of SMAP held at a big dome gathers audiences about over 40,000 to 55,000 people at a time. To keep the safety, the organiser will control leaving of the audiences at exit time. You have to wait your turn sitting on your seat to walk out after the concert.

Please note the exit turn guidance will be announced in Japanese, not in English. If you cannot understand Japanese language, you should watch the action of people around you to let yourself know when your turn come.
Seat type
'Stand seat' is the permanent seat surrounding the field of a stadium.
'Arena seat' is the temporary seat, is consisted of arranged folding chairs on the field of a stadium.
In the usual condition of concert, they are sold at the same price.
Location of the stage
The stage will be built at the side of the outfield of a stadium. The side of the infield is the rearward of Arena seat.
Where is the position of my seat? [Stand seat]
Stand seat is the permanent seats, so you can look up the seating chart in a stadium official page.
ex. Tokyo Dome seating chart http://www.tokyo-dome.co.jp/e/dome/seating_chart.html
Where is the position of my seat? [Arena seat]
There is not the permanent seating chart for Arena seat because Arena seat is the temporary seat arranged on the field. The left chart is a typical layout, but the numbers of rows and columns are variable at each concert tour, and sometimes the layout is in random order.
The seat layout of Mr.S Tour is so complex more than the left chart.

Do not try to call a stadium to get information of your seat position or the stage layout because the stadium is the facility, not the organiser.
